The IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants turned out to be a nail-biting thriller. In a high-scoring contest, Delhi secured a dramatic 1-wicket victory in the final over. Lucknow set a target of 209 runs, but Delhi’s batsmen fought till the end to snatch the win.

Delhi’s Top-Order Collapse
Delhi had a disastrous start, losing three wickets within the first two overs. This put the team under immense pressure, but the middle-order batsmen took charge and steadied the innings.
Vipraj and Ashutosh Turn the Game Around
With 109 runs needed in the last eight overs, Tristan Stubbs smashed two sixes but was soon dismissed. Vipraj Nigam played aggressively, while Ashutosh Sharma adopted a cautious approach. Initially, Ashutosh scored just 20 runs off 20 balls, but he soon shifted gears, completing his half-century in just 28 balls.
Winning Shot in the Final Over
Delhi needed 18 runs off the last 9 balls with only one wicket remaining. Ashutosh scored 12 runs off the last three balls of the 19th over. Then, in the final over, he smashed a six on the third delivery to seal the victory for Delhi. He remained unbeaten on 66 runs off 31 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes.
Lucknow’s Strong Start, But Slowed Down in the End
Lucknow Super Giants had a solid batting display. Nicholas Pooran scored 75 runs, while Mitchell Marsh contributed 72 runs. Both players stitched together an 87-run partnership in just 42 balls, putting Lucknow in a dominant position. At the end of 13 overs, the team had already scored 161 runs, and a 240+ total looked possible.
Lucknow’s Batting Struggles in the Last Seven Overs
Delhi’s bowlers made a remarkable comeback, restricting Lucknow to just 48 runs in the last seven overs. Nicholas Pooran struck six fours and seven sixes in his 30-ball innings, while Mitchell Marsh hit six fours and six sixes in 36 balls. David Miller also contributed 27 runs.
Delhi’s Bowlers Stole the Show
Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi, taking three wickets for 42 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav grabbed two wickets for just 20 runs. Lucknow was on track for a massive total, but Delhi’s bowlers put the brakes on their aggressive batting.
