PEORIA, Ill. — Freshman Chase Atkins continued his blitz on the Bellarmine University men’s cross country record book.

On Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic, Atkins posted the 18th-best 8k time in program history after finishing in 25:06.0 in the “Red Race” at Newman Golf Course.

Atkins finished a team-best 57th overall at the event. In his previous race, the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic, Atkins delivered the eight-best 8k time (24:54.1) in program history.

Junior Nate Smith (128th, 25:34.9), freshman Nolan Hester (131st, 25:35.5), freshman D.K. Schnieders (140th, 25:38.2) and sophomore Nick Lewis (161st, 25:51.1) rounded out the Knights’ top 5.

Bellarmine finished 24th out of 31 teams in the Red Race. The Knights also had several competitors in the “White Race,” with freshman Austin Pulkowski pacing the team in 24th (26:16.0).

Bellarmine will compete Oct. 30 in the ASUN Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
