JACKSON, Tenn.—The Bellarmine men’s golf team saved their best for last as the Knights carded a final round 287 to finish tied for ninth in the 16-team field of the Grover Page Classic hosted by Tennessee-Martin at the par-72 Jackson Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Jensen Klondike was a model of consistency on day one, posting back-to-back rounds of 74 to pace Bellarmine. In Tuesday’s final round, the redshirt junior from Louisville birdied three of his first five holes en route to a 68 to finish tied for 15th out of 92 players.
Bellarmine freshman Frankie Morgan didn’t exhibit the same consistency, but he did show improvement every round closing with a final round 70 for a T-38th finish.
The Knights, as a team, also got better with each round, opening with a 302 in Monday’s morning round and coming back with a 295 in the afternoon.  Today’s round of 287 (-1) was one of just four team scores under par on Tuesday.
Tournament host UT-Martin claimed the team championship with an 852 (-12) aggregate score.  Tennessee Tech was five shots back and was the only other team to post a final score in red figures.
Mathis Besard ran away with the individual title, finishing 15-under par (201), which was seven shots clear of runner-up Nick Sutton of Tennessee Tech.
Bellarmine returns to the course on Monday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Duluth, Georgia to compete at the Georgia State Classic at Berkley Hills Country Club.
