DULUTH, Ga.—The Bellarmine men’s golf team was back in action on Monday and Tuesday, competing in the Georgia State Invitational at the par-72 Berkeley Hills Country Club.
The Knights opened and closed with 307s while adding a 297 in Monday’s afternoon round to finish with an aggregate score of 911, placing them 15th in the field of 15.
Wright State captured the team title by finishing in a flourish. The Raiders posted a final round 275 (-13) for a 54-hole total of 846 to win the event by 10 strokes over Lafayette College.
Thomas Giroux of Oakland University took medalist honors, finishing 12-under par (204) to best Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson by two shots.
Shawn DeWeese led the Bellarmine team at 222 (74-73-75), which tied for 48th among 87 players.
The Knights close their 2021 fall season at the Grandover Intercollegiate on Oct. 23 and 24. The tournament will be hosted by UNC-Greensboro and contested at the Grandover Resort’s East Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.
