Having just served the fourth contest earlier in the week, Spezza was excited to suit up for the Toronto Maple Leafs’ next game on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

But then in a span of roughly four-to-six hours, he learned he tested positive for COVID-19.

“I was pretty down,” Spezza said. “With the excitement of coming back and [to] come on the road trip and was really hopeful that I’d get my suspension reduced; And then to have it taken away with COVID was a range of emotions.”
