GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The 20th-ranked Washington and Lee women’s swimming team cruised to a 201-51 win over Gettysburg on Saturday in its first competition in nearly two months.
 
Highlights from the meet:
 
-The Generals used 14 event wins out of 15 on the slate to earn the 151-point victory. In total, 10 different Generals combined for the 14 wins on the day, with five swimmers having a hand in multiple victories.
 
-Sophomore Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg) tallied a team-high four combined wins on the day. She swam the opening leg for the 200 free relay (1:40.44) and also won the 50 free (24.39), 100 free (53.60) and 200 free (1:57.95). Sophomore Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) matched Martinson with four wins in the 100 back (59.66), 200 back (2:12.89) and 200 IM (2:13.21) and joined Martinson on the 200 free relay.
 
-Senior Caroline Baber (Richmond, Va. / Collegiate School) was the victor in the 100 breast (1:10.01) and 200 breast (2:31.04), and she swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:52.04). Seniors Turner Bobbitt (Charlotte, N.C. / Myers Park) and Claudia Barnett (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg) rounded out the multi-win Generals as they both swam on both relays.
 
-Junior Jillian Cantrell (Harrison, Tenn. / Girls Preparatory School), sophomore Allyssa Utecht (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) and first-years Anna Marie Harding (Greensboro, N.C. / Greensboro Day School) and Katharine Alsobrook (Lawrenceville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) rounded out W&L’s individual-race winners. Cantrell took first in the 100 fly (1:00.59), Utecht in the 500 free (5:22.39), Harding in the 200 fly (2:16.59) and Alsobrook in the 1000 free (11:02.04).

The Generals will be back in action next Saturday, January 22, when they host cross-town rival VMI at 1:00 pm in the final dual meet of the regular season.
