HARRISONBURG, Va. — Competing with a handful of runners, the 27th-ranked Washington and Lee men’s cross country team finished fourth out of seven teams at the JMU Invitational on Friday.
 
George Washington claimed first with 23 points, Radford was second (41 points) and VCU placed third with 69 points. The Generals were the top Division III team at the race with 138 points and also bested Division I Howard.
 
First-year Henry Haden (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) was the Blue and White’s top runner, finishing 19th out of 57 athletes with a time of 28:23.80 on the 8k course. Senior Nick Watson (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Academy) claimed 25th in 28:50.00, and junior Max Thomas (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) was 27th (28:55.00).
 
Junior Kyle Clarke (Sykesville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) placed 31st in 29:13.90, and junior Holden Robinson (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) rounded out the scoring in 36th in 29:52.50.
 
Junior James Glockenmeier of George Washington was the top runner in the race, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:43.50.
 
The rest of the Generals’ team will compete at the Converse Kick-Off hosted by Converse University on Saturday at 10:15 am.
